Our client in the construction industry requires a Senior Structural Design Engineer in Centurion

Qualifications and minimum requirements:

  • Structural Engineering degree registered with ECSA
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical abilities
  • Excellent understanding of structural modelling/analysis – Ability to solve complex engineering problems
  • Extensive & sound knowledge of building and construction (Materials, methods, and techniques)
  • Autodesk suite of programs such as AutoCAD & Bim360
  • Prokon, Prokon Probar, Revit (Proficiency 10 Years - senior/advanced.
  • Experience in reinforcement steel, structural steel, and Structural Concrete design (Timber design will be advantageous)
  • Ability to assess and understand architectural layouts in order to coordinate and overlay with structural layouts
  • Attention to detail
  • PMP or SACPCMP advantageous

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 Years in retail, commercial and residential steel and concrete structures design (Timber, Petrochemical and Agriculture will be advantageous)
  • A thorough understanding of reinforcement steel and detailing (Preparation of bending schedules)
  • Preparation of concrete drawings (layouts, sections, and details)
  • Preparation of structural steel layouts, sections, and details
  • Site experience – assisting the lead/project engineer/project manager with site inspections, measurements, and surveys
  • Attending planning, technical and site meetings

Competency profile:

  • Architecture – Understanding the principles and techniques involved in the design of structural layouts
  • Building and construction – Good knowledge of building materials and methods involved in the erection and construction of structures
  • Design – Do structural analysis and design, Providing documentation, detailed instructions, and engineering drawings to effectively communicate with the project team and contractors (sub-contractors) to ensure the structures are constructed with minimal mistakes (Attention to detail and accuracy is crucial and non-negotiable)
  • Administration – Basic knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions within your discipline. Responsible for checking your own work prior to issuing for review to the project engineer/manager and responsible for printing and issuing layouts to the relevant construction sites (Coordination with draughtspersons regarding drawings and details timeously)
  • Interpersonal relations – Showing understanding and politeness to others (team player) and developing and maintaining good relationships with others
