We seek a dynamic and energetic individual to complement our Research & Development team. The ideal candidate should have excellent time management, work under pressure, and be driven and self-motivated with a desire to succeed.

 

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design: Lead development of design concepts aligning with the brand vision and target market. Create innovative cycling apparel designs considering form, function, and performance.
  • Product Development: Drive product lifecycle from concept to production, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and cost parameters. Collaborate with suppliers for improvement and innovation.
  • Trend Analysis: Stay updated on cycling and sports apparel trends, conducting market research to identify emerging trends and consumer preferences for product development.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to ensure coordination and alignment throughout product development. Build strong relationships with external partners for successful collaboration.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and address design challenges to create functional cycling apparel. Adapt to changing requirements and find creative solutions for product success.
  • Technical Expertise: Utilize technical knowledge to develop high-performance cycling apparel meeting quality standards and performance expectations.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Oversee the prototyping process and conduct rigorous testing for design integrity, fit, and functionality. Gather feedback from product testing athletes.
  • Brand Consistency: Uphold the brand's design language and aesthetic principles across product categories. Maintain consistency in brand identity while exploring new design directions.

Required:

  • Matric + Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Product Development, or a similar
    qualification in a related field.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in design or product development, as a mid-level
    preferably in the cycling or sports apparel industry.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional design skills and technical expertise.
  • Proficient in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) is
    essential. Knowledge of 3D product design software will be advantageous but not
    required.
  • Experienced with product costing and working with PLM software.
  • Ability to create detailed and accurate tech packs, including technical drawings.
  • In-depth knowledge of fabric properties, garment construction, and pattern
    making.
  • Manufacturing experience will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of technical sportswear trends, consumer behaviour, and competitive
    fields.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational and presentation skills.
  • Experience in working with local and international suppliers/manufacturers will be
    advantageous.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines is of
    utmost importance.
  • Attention to detail is crucial and a passion for delivering high-quality products.
  • Experience working with financial targets and understanding margins.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Experience with working in Google Sheets or Excel.
  • A keen interest in cycling is required. Being an avid cyclist will be preferred.
