Head of Operations

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced candidate with strong leadership skills to take managerial responsibility of a diverse recycling facility with over 150 employees. The role involves both production and inbound- / outbound logistics, factory planning as well as the physical management of stock, staff and budgets associated with the operations. The successful candidate will report directly to the Operations Director. A passion for safety, sustainability and efficiency in a constantly evolving environment is a prerequisite.
The successful candidate will be on senior management level and will be required to interact daily with middle management to maintain a detailed understanding of the end-to-end production environment.
Key duties:
- Manage incoming and outgoing cargo (import, export and logistics)
- Production management (planning, supervision and day-to-day problem solving)
- Staff management in collaboration with the HR Manager
- Management of operational expenses
- Inventory Control
- Monitor the compliance of the operational departments against policies, procedures and legislation and implement measures to rectify non-compliance
- Development and monitoring of production metrics and KPIs
Minimum Requirements:
- Operations/ Production Management qualification (or equivalent with relevant experience)
- At least 10 years of operational experience within a manufacturing environment
- At least 5 years of management experience
- Logistics and shipping experience will be advantageous
- Proven experience in running operations/ production
Competencies:
- People management skills in an industrial environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Excellent leadership skills with proven planning, organising and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and strong administrative skills
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Health and Safety and Labour Relations regulations and legislation
- Microsoft 365 and at least Intermediate Excel abilities
