About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and passionate Horticulturalist to manage their advanced greenhouse operations in Centurion . This role involves the cultivation and care of a wide variety of plants, focusing on maximizing growth, quality, and yield within a controlled environment. You will be responsible for pest and disease management, irrigation systems, climate control, and ensuring optimal growing conditions. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of greenhouse operations, including planting, propagation, cultivation, and harvesting.
- Manage and maintain environmental controls such as temperature, humidity, lighting, and irrigation systems.
- Implement integrated pest and disease management (IPM) strategies to ensure plant health.
- Monitor plant growth and development, making adjustments as needed to optimize conditions.
- Maintain accurate records of crop production, inputs, and pest/disease occurrences.
- Supervise and train greenhouse staff on horticultural practices and safety procedures.
Requirements
- A degree or diploma in Horticulture, Botany, Plant Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in commercial horticulture, particularly in greenhouse management.
- In-depth knowledge of plant physiology, propagation techniques, and nutrient management.
- Familiarity with greenhouse environmental control systems and IPM strategies.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lead a small team and manage daily operational tasks effectively.
