A diverse and established Financial Services Group is looking to appoint a Financial Accountant to their team at their offices in the Cape Winelands.   The ideal candidate will have completed SAICA, SAIPA or CIMA articles, hold a tertiary financial qualification, and membership to a professional body will be advantageous. Candidates qualified by experience in a related role and industry will also be considered. Experience with ERP systems such as Sage, SAP, Oracle, or Xero will be a positive but not a hard requirement and must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience.   This is a good opportunity for a person with the required qualifications and experience to join a fast growing business, with excellent prospects for growth within the business and personally.     Overview of the Role: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to manage the financial records of the company, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, and provide accurate and timely financial reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial information, supporting decision-making, and improving financial processes.     Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and journal postings. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/IFRS for SME’s. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. Monitor and report on company expenses, variances, and cost control. Handle tax returns, VAT submissions, and other statutory filings. Support annual audits by preparing schedules, reconciling balances, and liaising with external auditors. Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Provide financial insights and recommendations to management. Assist with process improvements to streamline accounting operations.   Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (BCom Accounting or equivalent). Professional certification (SAICA/AGA/CIMA) preferred but not always required depending on seniority. Proven experience as an Accountant, Financial Officer, or similar role (typically 2–5 years for mid-level). Solid knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS/IFRS for SME’s, and financial reporting. Strong proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero). Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.     Key Competencies: Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data. High level of integrity and confidentiality. Deadline-driven with strong prioritization skills. Adaptability and continuous improvement mindset.     Remuneration: R360,000 to R540,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience.
