Candidature Requirements: 

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Power BI Developer with over 8 years of experience to join our onsite team in South Africa. The ideal candidate brings expert-level skills in designing and developing advanced Power BI dashboards, robust data models, and scalable reporting solutions. Proven ability in data integration, DAX, ETL, and performance optimization is essential. Strong collaboration, business analysis, and communication skills are required to translate business requirements into impactful visualizations and insights, ensuring data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Areas of responsibility:

• Design, develop, and deploy advanced Power BI dashboards and interactive reports tailored to business requirements.
• Build and optimize complex data models, relationships, and DAX queries for efficient analytics and reporting.
• Integrate data from multiple sources (SQL databases, cloud platforms, APIs, Excel) and perform robust ETL using Power Query.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical specifications, and deliver actionable insights.
• Ensure report and model performance through ongoing optimization, scalability planning, and troubleshooting.
• Implement and maintain row-level security, data governance policies, and access management in Power BI workspaces.
• Conduct end-user training, create documentation, and provide ongoing support to ensure successful adoption of BI solutions.
• Explore and introduce new Power BI features, custom visuals, and best practices to enhance data storytelling and analytics maturity across the organization.

Must-have requirements:

• 8+Years in Advanced Power BI Dashboard Development - Expertise in building interactive, visually appealing dashboards and reports using Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Data Modelling & DAX - Strong proficiency in data modelling, relationships, calculated columns, and writing complex DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) queries.
• Data Integration - Experience connecting Power BI to a wide range of data sources (SQL Server, Azure, Excel, APIs, cloud databases).
• ETL & Power Query - Skilled in data cleaning, transformation, and shaping using Power Query and M language.
• Performance Optimization - Ability to optimize data models, queries, and dashboards for efficient performance and scalability.
• Row-Level Security - Implementing and managing security roles to restrict sensitive data visibility.
• Deployment & Workspace Management - Experience with publishing, sharing, and managing reports/datasets across Power BI workspaces, including permissions.
• Visualization Best Practices - Knowledge of effective data storytelling, visual design principles, and custom visuals.
• Power BI Service & Gateway Management - Managing data refresh schedules, gateways, and live connections.
• Collaboration & Requirement Gathering - Working closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements, design solutions, and deliver actionable insights.
• Documentation & Training - Documenting solutions, preparing user guides, and training end-users/customers.
• Problem Solving & Troubleshooting - Diagnosing data model, performance, or visualization issues quickly and efficiently.
