Head of Compliance and Legal – Centurion

The Personnel Corporation is proud to partner with a leading South African financial services group in the search for an experienced Head of Compliance and Legal to lead the compliance and legal functions within their insurance division.

This is a strategic and executive-level role responsible for providing legal and regulatory direction to the business, managing risk, ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation, and fostering trusted relationships with regulators, boards, and executive leadership.

About the Role

As the Head of Compliance and Legal, you will:

* Fulfil the role of Head of Compliance Control Function for the insurance division

* Lead the compliance and legal strategy, aligning it with broader business objectives

* Oversee regulatory advice, monitoring, and submissions, ensuring the business remains compliant with all laws and governance frameworks

* Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive compliance programs and policies

* Manage regulatory risk and oversee all legal disputes and contract management

* Build strong relationships with regulators and industry bodies

* Lead and mentor a team of legal and compliance professionals to achieve operational excellence

This position reports directly to the Chief Risk Officer and has a dotted reporting line to the Group Head of Compliance and Legal.

Candidate Profile

We're looking for a seasoned legal and compliance leader who brings both technical expertise and strategic vision.

Minimum Requirements

* LLB degree (LLM or postgraduate qualification in Compliance or Legal is advantageous)

* Admitted attorney with the right to practice in South Africa

* 10 or more years of post-admission experience, with significant exposure to compliance or legal management in the insurance or financial services sector

* Strong understanding of FSCA, Prudential Authority, and Information Regulator frameworks

* Proven ability to manage teams, drive regulatory strategy, and influence at executive level
