Position Overview:

New York Bagels is seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Commi Chef to join our culinary team. The Senior Commi Chef will take on greater responsibility in food preparation, quality control, and supporting the kitchen leadership. This role requires culinary expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and produce high-quality dishes in line with standardized recipes and kitchen procedures.
  • Assist the senior chef in supervising and training junior commi chefs and kitchen staff.
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, workstations, and equipment.
  • Support kitchen operations by liaising with senior chefs on workflow, inventory, and quality control.
  • Follow company policies and procedures consistently.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in kitchen efficiency and product quality.

Requirements:

  • Culinary diploma or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years' experience in a professional kitchen, preferably with some supervisory or mentorship experience.
  • Solid understanding of culinary ingredients, preparation techniques, and kitchen equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, teamwork-oriented environment.
