Business Analyst
Role Purpose

Business Analysts at Airvantage play a key role in shaping system capabilities across our API-driven and data-rich platforms. This role focuses on understanding complex business processes, interpreting technical designs, and ensuring that requirements are defined in a way that is both implementable and scalable. You'll work closely with developers, architects, and product stakeholders to turn business goals into clear, testable specifications that drive execution excellence.

Key Responsibilities
1. Requirements & Analysis

• Engage stakeholders to elicit and refine business needs, ensuring alignment with Airvantage's technology strategy.

• Analyse workflows, data flows, and integration points across microservices and 3rd-party APIs.

• Produce clear, testable Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS) that define data contracts, API interfaces, validation rules, and performance expectations.

• Decompose high-level business concepts into user stories, acceptance criteria, and process or sequence diagrams.

2. Technical Collaboration

• Work closely with developers and DevOps to ensure solution feasibility, performance alignment, and consistency in documentation.

• Interpret REST API specifications, JSON schemas, and OpenAPI documentation when defining system behaviour.

• Understand and document architectural patterns such as async messaging, caching, and service orchestration.

• Identify potential risks related to performance, data consistency, or inter-service communication.

3. System & Data Modelling

• Create and maintain logical and physical data models that reflect system interactions and dependencies.

• Map integrations with external providers (e.g. Experian, Pay@, logistics APIs) into unified requirement artefacts.

• Define non-functional requirements such as performance targets, availability, and data resilience.

4. Testing & Validation

• Collaborate with the rest of the team (Devs, DevOps, Data Engineering) to define test data, mock payloads, and acceptance criteria for complex use cases.

• Record these test cases in Qase

• Ensure business requirements are implemented correctly through participation in UAT and system testing.

• Contribute to defining performance and regression test scope for backend or API changes.

5. Communication & Coordination

• Facilitate alignment between technical and business stakeholders to ensure mutual understanding of objectives.

• Maintain version-controlled documentation and ensure that requirement updates are communicated effectively.

• Collaborate with Project Managers for planning, scope tracking, and risk assessment.

6. Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to standardising BA templates, technical documentation formats, and data dictionaries across the PMO.

• Promote the adoption of tools and processes that improve collaboration and quality (e.g., SwaggerHub, Generative AI tools, SaaS documentation tools).

• Help build technical fluency and consistency across the BA team through collaboration and shared learning.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

• 5+ years' experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst in API-driven or data-intensive environments.

• Working knowledge of REST APIs, database schemas, and JSON schema design.

• Understanding of performance and load-testing principles.

• Excellent communication, analytical, and documentation skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in fintech, telco, or API-driven SaaS platforms.

• Exposure to asynchronous messaging or event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ).

• Ability to translate complex system interactions into concise, practical requirements.

Performance Indicators

• Quality and completeness of Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS).

• Stakeholder satisfaction (PM, Engineering, QA).

• Timeliness and accuracy in converting BRS to FRS deliverables.

• Contribution to BA team capability uplift and documentation standards.
