We are a fast-growing accounting and tax firm and in the market for an experienced professional for the role of Accounting Practice Operations Manager. The Accounting Practice Operations Manager helps drive operational improvements within the company, developing a highly efficient, world class accounting process.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Client Retention & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and providing strategic financial guidance.
  • Ensure client compliance with all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver high value-added services to enhance client satisfaction and long-term loyalty.
  • Perform financial analysis and interpretation to provide insights that support client decision-making.
  • Maintain minimal client complaints across the firm and ensure all complaints are resolved promptly and professionally.

2. Review, Supervision & Team Leadership

  • Plan, allocate, and monitor work across the team to ensure high-quality, efficient output and adherence to deadlines.
  • Supervise, guide, and train staff on compliance regulations, including accounting processes, CIPC returns, COIDA, UIF, and other statutory submissions.
  • Implement and evaluate internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures for improved accuracy and compliance.
  • Contribute to the development, enhancement, and implementation of new procedures to improve team workflow and productivity.

3. Business Operations: Accounting & Compliance

  • Oversee the full accounting process from processing to the preparation of Annual Financial Statements (AFS).
  • Review monthly management accounts and other client deliverables prepared by staff.
  • Track accuracy of financial reports, budgets, expenditure, and revenue to ensure reliability and compliance.
  • Ensure payroll tasks are completed accurately and timeously.
  • Ensure timely completion of CIPC and other statutory compliance matters.
  • Drive consistent and effective communication, reporting, and feedback processes across the practice.
  • Prepare complex accounting records and annual financial
  • Assist in preparing for and managing external client audits, liaising with auditors where needed.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

  • Relevant Accounting qualification (e.g., BCom Accounting, BCompt, BCom Hons in Accounting).
  • Accreditation with an accounting body, and membership in good standing.
  • Experience in a supervisory or management role within an accounting or tax practice.
  • Strong technical accounting and compliance knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client engagement skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Effective time management and ability to prioritise under pressure

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: R25 000,00 - R35 000,00 per month
