ESD & SED Business Development Specialist

We're looking for a strategic, results-driven ESD & SED Business Development Specialist to design, commercialise, and deliver Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) and Socio-Economic Development (SED) solutions that drive measurable transformation and impact.

In this client-facing role, you'll combine
business development expertise, solution design, and compliance governance
to craft impactful, audit-ready programmes. Your work will strengthen B-BBEE outcomes, advance ESG priorities, and contribute to South Africa's goals for inclusive economic growth, job creation, and reduced inequality.

Success in this role means identifying opportunities, winning new business, and delivering commercially viable, compliant, and high-impact ESD & SED programmes that create sustainable value for clients and communities alike.

What you'll do:

Client Engagement & Solution Design

• Engage with clients to understand their ESD and SED objectives, transformation challenges, and strategic priorities.
• Design tailored ESD & SED solutions that balance compliance, commercial value, and measurable social impact.
• Translate client requirements into implementation roadmaps, budgets, and performance metrics.
• Ensure solutions align with B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice, ESG frameworks, and South Africa's development goals.

Sales & Business Development

• Identify, pursue, and convert ESD and SED business opportunities within existing and new client accounts.
• Lead client presentations, workshops, and solution pitches, clearly communicating impact and compliance value.
• Develop business cases and ROI models that demonstrate scorecard gains, risk reduction, and social return on investment.
• Support pipeline management and revenue growth, ensuring all engagements transition smoothly from Sales to Delivery.

Enterprise, Supplier & Socio-Economic Development Strategy

• Identify and design initiatives that develop black-owned SMMEs, integrate suppliers into value chains, and uplift communities.
• Structure SED programmes that promote education, entrepreneurship, skills development, and community empowerment.
• Develop scalable frameworks for incubation, training, bursaries, and access to finance.
• Build strong partnerships with SMMEs, NPOs, funders, and incubators to expand sourcing and collaboration options.
• Ensure all interventions are scalable, sustainable, and aligned to client objectives.

Compliance & Assurance

• Integrate B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice and verification requirements into all solution architectures.
• Define audit evidence standards, verification packs, and quality gates to ensure compliance.
• Conduct pre-audit (mock SANAS) reviews to validate readiness and accuracy.
• Maintain a risk register and proactively manage escalations to ensure full audit compliance.

Impact & ESG Integration

• Align ESD & SED solutions with South Africa's ESG and SDG priorities such as decent work, education, and responsible procurement.
• Define impact logic models (inputs → outputs → outcomes) and set measurable targets (e.g., job creation, revenue uplift, localisation).
• Produce impact dashboards, case studies, and reports demonstrating transformation outcomes and ROI.

What you'll bring:

• 5+ years' experience in ESD, SED, transformation consulting, or business development.
• A degree in Business, Development Studies, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• Proven ability to design, sell, and implement ESD & SED programmes aligned to B-BBEE and ESG requirements.
• Strong understanding of B-BBEE legislation, verification processes, and impact measurement frameworks.
• Demonstrated success in consultative sales, solution design, and client relationship management.
• Excellent presentation, proposal writing, and executive communication skills.
• Ability to balance commercial growth, compliance integrity, and measurable social impact.
