Senior Handyman

Tsebo Facilities Solutions is looking for a Senior Handyman- HVAC who will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems across the site, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with statutory and company standards. Coordinates and executes HVAC maintenance activities in conjunction with other maintenance teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery. The role requires proactive supervision of the handyman team, ensuring that all tasks are completed safely and efficiently while supporting Huawei's operational objectives, including after-hours emergency response

Operational Delivery:

• Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including chillers, air handling units, VSDs, ventilation, ductwork, and associated control systems.
• Perform preventive, corrective, and remedial maintenance on all HVAC equipment and systems.
• Monitor HVAC system performance, identify faults, and implement corrective actions to maintain operational efficiency.
• Conduct inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance in line with manufacturer recommendations and OHS requirements.
• Ensure HVAC systems comply with statutory and company safety standards.
• Carry out building maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, lighting, carpentry, painting, furniture, fittings, fixtures, and minor gas appliance repairs.
• Supervise, escort, and monitor subcontractors to ensure work meets quality standards, safety requirements, and tidy work areas.
• Maintain a clean and orderly workshop, ensuring all tools and equipment are safe and in good working condition.
• Log all maintenance activities accurately on OnKey and ensure Work Orders are completed for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies related to HVAC and building systems.

Service Delivery Management:

• Plan and execute all HVAC and building maintenance activities alongside other maintenance teams to meet service level agreements (SLAs) and performance standards.

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, HVAC system documentation, warranties, and licenses.

• Coordinate and monitor preventive maintenance activities to prevent downtime and ensure continuous operation of building systems.

Customer Focus:

• Work with teams to develop and maintain a customer-focused attitude toward activities
• Interact with clients to provide and process information in response to enquiries, concerns and requests about services
• Work with processes and procedures in such a way that operational efficiencies and performance are enhanced
• Attend to and resolve all client queries timeously or escalate when necessary

Reporting:

• Prepare weekly/monthly reporting within set timeframes for submission to your Manager as requested
• Update and maintain all relevant records

• Solid technical knowledge of refrigeration cycles, cooling systems, ducting, and ventilation principles.
• Ability to read and interpret HVAC technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Competent in fault-finding, troubleshooting, and system diagnostics.
• Knowledge of relevant OHS regulations, SHEQ policies, and risk mitigation.
• Basic computer literacy for logging maintenance activities and using CAFM/CMMS systems

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Minimum NQF Level 4 Certificate in HVAC, Refrigeration, or Air-conditioning Systems (SAQA-accredited).
• Trade-tested or formally certified artisan qualification in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning is preferred.
• Relevant safety and compliance certifications (e.g., OHS Act awareness, Gas Handling License if working with refrigerants, SANS standards).
• Basic electrical knowledge and certification (advantageous)
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar environment
