**GENERAL PURPOSE**

Provide general and multi-disciplined repair and maintenance duties including but not limited to handy works consisting of welding, carpentry, tiling, plastering, lubricating, filling of crevices, hanging of doors, general building maintenance works, basic plumbing works (installing and replacing taps, showers and related parts, attending to blockages, leaking and/or running toilets, toilet seats, silicone works, sealing, etc.) and basic electrical works (installing and replacing tubes, bulbs and related parts, repair and/or replace stoves, hydroboils, plugs, etc.) and paintwork in compliance with local authority specifications and in line with best industry practice as well as to ensure that South Point standards and requirements are met at all times.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Duties**
- Ensure that the buildings and dwellings allocated to you are well kept in terms of all maintenance works such as full scope plumbing works, basic electrical works, paintworks and handy works both internally and externally
- Ensure that all works are attended to efficiently and timeously in line with company SLAs and requirements
- Conduct reactive, preventive, predictive and life cycle maintenance as required efficiently and timeously
- Perform maintenance and/or repairs on equipment as per company requirements
- Inspect building installations, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliances with SANS and OHS codes;
- Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous;
- Work from ladders, scaffolds and roofs to install, maintain and/or repair items, equipment and fixtures;
- Installation, repairs and/or maintenance of: window-sliders, stays and handles, general carpentry skills (repairs to wooden doors/skirting etc.), small scale building and plastering projects, replacement of door hinges, tilling repairs and projects, mounting of various objects such as fire signs, key boxes, notice boards etc., sealing of showers/kitchen tops, replacing carpets, blind repairs, installations and/or services, repair and installation of lockers and handles, dry wall repairs with associated plaster and paintworks,
- Maintenance of tools issued to you;
- Taking care and cleaning power tools after use;
- Accurate completion of all job cards within the expected turnaround times;
- Reporting any faulty equipment or hazards in the work place;
- Minimizing wastage of material;
- Accurate completion of all job cards within the expected turnaround time;
- Return the device on a daily to the artisans docking station
- Any ad hoc tasks and responsibilities assigned to him/her by management.
- Chase walls and/or install items (pipes, trunking and/or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls and/or other concealed areas and pull piping and/or related parts through the conduit to complete total installations;
- Construct and fabricate parts using relevant tools and specifications;
- Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services;
- Ensure all works, equipment and tools are in safe working condition
- Ensure that all work devices are in good operational condition, that they are connected to the required network and that they are updating regularly
- Include pictures and comments in on job cards. Return mobile devices daily to the artisans docking station and ensure that they are charged and ready for use
- Provide assistance during emergencies All other ad hoc tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.
- Manage maintenance projects as required
- Utilise materials efficiently and limit wastage as far as possible
- Clean, wash and maintain in good condition all tools, equipment and the like
- Ensure you are fully dressed in company uniform and that you upkeep the companies brand values
- Ensure your work areas are kept clean, neat and tidy at all times
- All other emergency and ad hoc tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management
- Identify the need for maintenance works and report to line manager
- Assist with stock counts as required
