The Citizen, a Division of CTP Limited, one of the largest publishers and printers of newspapers in South Africa, offer an enthusiastic, ambitious, and determined graduate who does not have any previous work experience (excluding non-paid internships, which you had to complete to obtain your qualification) an opportunity to join The Citizen. A full time, office-based position is available in Craighall, Johannesburg for a Graduate with a degree or diploma in journalism, media studies or related field.

Applicants must have a strong appetite for breaking news and be able to produce good content in a fast-paced, breaking news environment.

Graduates are taken through a 12-month full time programme, commencing in February 2026, which introduces the working world, as well as a foundation for further development. You will be supported by mentors and work on projects in order to gain valuable practical experience.

The successful graduate will become part of the digital team for a year, creating content for our website and online platforms.
