The
DevOps / Platform Developer
is responsible for building, maintaining, and automating infrastructure pipelines, deploying and configuring observability and monitoring solutions, and supporting platform stability and performance across both on-premises and cloud environments.
The role involves hands-on development (primarily in Python), managing cloud services (AWS & Azure), and contributing to the modernization of infrastructure through DevOps practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Infrastructure & Automation:
- Maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and related automation tools.
- Support hybrid deployments across on-premise and cloud environments.
- Develop Python scripts for automation, data processing, and operational tasks.
- Manage Linux/Unix environments, scheduling jobs via cron.
- Work with Python as the primary language; Java experience is advantageous.
Cloud & Platform Engineering:
- Configure and maintain solutions on AWS and Microsoft Azure.
- Deploy and configure observability products (e.g., exporters, dashboards) at customer sites.
- Implement cloud monitoring solutions such as AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor.
- Manage services including RDS (MySQL, PostgreSQL), CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodePipeline.
- Configure load balancing and API Gateway for scalable architectures.
Monitoring & Logging:
- Implement and support observability stacks including Prometheus, Grafana and ELK.
- Ensure effective logging, alerting, and performance monitoring of services.
- Work with containerization technologies (Docker).
Operational Support:
- Provide third-line support for deployed solutions during business hours.
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents across platform and infrastructure layers.
- Engage in R&D to evaluate and trial new technologies (e.g., pattern recognition, advanced monitoring tools).
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Equivalent experience with demonstrable technical skills will also be considered.
Professional Certifications
(if applicable)
(Relevant industry or technical certification AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or higher.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900).
- HashiCorp Terraform Associate (desirable).
- Docker Certified Associate (optional).
Experience:
- 2–3 years of professional experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Software Development.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD, Terraform, and AWS/Azure.
- Previous exposure to monitoring and observability stacks.
- Some scripting and automation experience using Python in both on-premise and cloud setups.
Technical & Functional Skills:
- Proficiency in Python as the primary development language; Java experience is advantageous but not required.
- Solid understanding of Linux/Unix environments; not necessarily expert-level, but comfortable working in these systems.
- Basic DevOps skills, including experience with containerization (especially Docker); Kubernetes knowledge is not required.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably AWS and Azure; cloud certification is desirable.
- Some exposure to observability concepts is a plus, but not mandatory.
