We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Motor Assessing Manager to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg. The Motor Assessing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the motor assessment and motor body repairer relationship process, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, exceptional communication skills, and a deep understanding of motor insurance assessments and motor body repairer relationship management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Department Leadership:
    Provide leadership and guidance to a department of motor assessing managers, supervisors and motor assessors, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Motor Assessment Process:
    Oversee the end-to-end motor assessment process, including claim documentation review, vehicle inspections, damage assessment, and estimation of repair costs.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Implement and maintain quality assurance protocols to ensure accurate and consistent assessment outcomes.
  • Compliance:
    Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements throughout the assessment process.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including claims managers, the internal procurement and legal teams, to facilitate efficient claims processing and resolution.
  • Training and Development:
    Provide training and ongoing development opportunities for motor assessors to enhance their skills and knowledge. Provide leadership guidance and training to the motor assessing manager and supervisors.
  • Performance Monitoring:
    Develop, monitor and analyse key performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and drive operational excellence.
  • Customer Service:
    Resolve escalated customer inquiries and complaints related to motor assessments and the vehicle repair process, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Vendor Management:
    Manage relationships with external vendors, such as motor body repairers, part suppliers and system developers, to support the assessment process as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Identify opportunities for process optimisation and efficiency gains, implementing best practices and new innovative methods to enhance the overall effectiveness of the motor assessment function.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., insurance, engineering, business administration, motor body trade) .
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in motor assessment or related field, with demonstrated expertise in vehicle damage appraisal and repair estimation.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to effectively manage and develop a team of assessors.
  • In-depth knowledge of motor insurance principles, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as claims management systems and estimating software (Audatex experience would be preferential).
  • Certification as a motor assessor or similar accreditation preferred.
