Assistant Restaurant Manager

Position Summary:
The Restaurant Assistant Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and team performance. This role helps lead staff, manage workflows, and contribute to a positive and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities, Operations & Service
- Assist in managing day-to-day restaurant operations
- Ensure high-quality customer service and promptly address guest concerns
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control
- Oversee opening and closing procedures
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards throughout the restaurant
Team Leadership & Training
- Supervise, motivate, and support front-of-house and back-of-house staff
- Assist with recruiting, training, and onboarding new employees
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching when needed
- Create a positive team environment and promote teamwork
Financial & Administrative Duties
- Assist in inventory management, ordering, and stock control
- Help analyze sales, labor, and cost reports to optimize performance
- Contribute to scheduling and labor management to meet business needs
- Ensure compliance with company policies and local regulations
Customer Relations
- Greet guests and assist with special requests or concerns
- Handle escalated customer issues professionally
- Promote guest satisfaction and encourage repeat business
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of restaurant management or supervisory experience
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of restaurant operations, food safety, and hospitality standards
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with POS systems and basic administrative tools
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: R10 000,00 - R14 000,00 per month
Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
Work Location: In person
