Job title:

Fleet Controller

Scope of job:

The candidate will lead a team of BVOs in allocating workload and managing their day to day operations. Coordinate resources and liaise with internal and external key stakeholders to ensure customer requirements are met on time safely.

Reporting:

This job will report to Operations Manager.

Activities:

The following activities helps to compliment the employment contract with Anax Logistics and is not a conclusive set of responsibilities.

  • Implement transportation health and safety, and security programs and activities.
  • Participate in incidents investigations to determine causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Remain current with latest transportation technology systems and procedures
  • Ensuring drivers complies with all transport policies, legislation and procedures.
  • Review all tracking reports and tachograph and feedback and coach all drivers.
  • Brief and debrief drivers on all trips.
  • Coordinate all vehicle inspection with drivers' pre and post trip.

· Attend driver safety meetings, tool box talk and quarterly HSSE committee meetings.

· Record all feedbacks and queries from suppliers and customers.

· Ensure BVOs are made available for all refresher training and regulatory requirements.

· Identify remedial training required and coordinate BVO availability.

· Promote a Health and Safety culture with all BVOs.

· Review RRAs, journey plans and rest stops annually.

· Coordinate vehicle and tanker service requirements as per the company requirements.

· Tracking total running costs of all company vehicles.

· Track and record all breakdowns

Major Challenges:

· Managing transport movements within South Africa.

· Ensuring that all drivers comply with company requirements in a very challenging environments (high risk South African environment and long distances of travel).

· Ensuring timeous repair/service of company vehicles.

· Tracking total running costs of all company vehicles.

Competencies

· Diploma in Transport Management

  • Strong interpersonal and People management skills
  • Ability to work with people at various levels from shop floor to senior management
  • Transportation Safety awareness

  • Understand and interpret tacho-charts and tracking reports
  • Defensive driving
