We're seeking an experienced and passionate Field Guide to deliver immersive safari experiences that blend luxury with the thrill of the wild.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead personalised and tailored safari drives and walks, focusing on guest preferences while incorporating educational and conservation messaging.
  • Ensure the highest standards of guest safety by conducting thorough briefings and maintaining compliance with all safety protocols.
  • Perform daily maintenance checks on safari vehicles and equipment to ensure they are pristine and fully operational for every drive.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with trackers, butlers, and management to anticipate and meet all guest needs, from dietary requests to hosting and building rapport.
  • Contribute high-quality wildlife content, including blogs, photos, and videos, to support Silvan's media and marketing efforts.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12 / Matric)
  • FGASA Nature Site Guide (NQF Level 4)
  • FGASA Trails Guide
  • Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH)
  • Valid First Aid Certification
  • Valid Professional Driver's Permit (PrDP)
  • DEAT registered as a Tourist Guide (Mpumalanga)
  • Minimum of 3 years experience guiding at a 5-star luxury lodge in a Big 5 environment.
  • Expertise in 4x4 off-road driving and basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Proven skills in digital photography.

NOT ESSENTIAL BUT ADVANTAGEOUS:

  • Specialised knowledge in areas such as birding, tracking, or astronomy.
  • A deep understanding of conservation and wildlife behaviour.
