Health and Safety Coordinator

Thorburn Security Solutions is looking for a highly motivated candidate to fill the role of a Health and Safety Coordinator. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across warehousing and security operations. This role ensures compliance with safety, legal, and operational standards, and supports the development of a robust risk management framework tailored to Thorburn Security Solutions.

• Conduct regular risk assessments across warehouse facilities and security operations.
• Identify potential hazards including fire risks, theft, inventory loss, and operational disruptions.
• Maintain and update the risk register for warehousing and security-related risks.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies for physical security, access control, and inventory protection.
• Monitor and report on the effectiveness of security systems and risk controls.
• Collaborate with warehouse managers and security personnel to address risks proactively.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and legal regulations (e.g., OHS Act, PSIRA, ISO standards).
• Conduct internal audits and inspections of warehouse safety and security protocols.
• Prepare compliance reports and documentation for stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
• Facilitate risk awareness and safety training for warehouse staff and security teams.
• Promote a culture of safety, vigilance, and risk consciousness across the organization.
• Investigate incidents such as theft, damage, and safety breaches.
• Recommend corrective actions and follow up on implementation.
• Identified risks with mitigation plans.
• Number of new risks identified per quarter
• Audit compliance rate for warehouse and security protocols.
• manage non-compliance incidents reported and assist the Risk manager in ensuring compliance.
• Resolve compliance issues (Target: 7 working days).
• Investigate and close incidents timeously with the operations team and other relevant stakeholders.
• Identify root causes for all incidents in the workplace with the guidance of the Risk Manager.
• Train employees in safety and security protocols.
• Conduct risk awareness sessions conducted with all employees and service providers.
• Submit risk reports to the risk manager monthly and follow up on any outstanding issues.
• Ensure accuracy of risk documentation.
• Conduct collaborative risk reviews with operational and security teams on a regular basis.

• Diploma or Degree in Risk Management, Safety Management, Security Management, or related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in risk management within warehousing, logistics, or security operations.
• Experience in FM / technical and Samtrac qualification will also be an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of OHSA, security, and warehousing regulations and standards.
• Proficiency in risk assessment tools, CCTV monitoring systems, and reporting platforms
• Certified Risk Management Practitioner (CRM Prac) – IRMSA
• SAMTRAC (Safety Management Training Course) – NOSA
• ISO 31000 Risk Management Certification
• PSIRA Grade A/B Security Certification – Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority
• NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
• Project Management Professional (PMP) – PMI
