Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Capture and process monthly transactions
  • Perform monthly allocations and update the General Ledger
  • Reconcile bank accounts, debtors, and creditors
  • Prepare monthly management accounts support schedules

Payroll & Statutory Submissions

  • Process payroll for multiple clients
  • Prepare and submit EMP201 returns
  • Complete EMP501 reconciliations
  • Ensure PAYE, UIF, and SDL compliance

Tax Compliance

  • Prepare and submit VAT201 returns
  • Assist with provisional tax calculations
  • Prepare and submit Income Tax Returns (ITR14 / ITR12)
  • Liaise with SARS regarding queries, audits, and reconciliations

Client Support & Administration

  • Communicate with clients to obtain outstanding information
  • Maintain accurate client records and working papers
  • Assist seniors with year-end audit and financial statement preparation
  • Adhere to deadlines and compliance requirements

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Financial Management, or similar
  • Studying towards SAIPA / SAICA articles (advantageous but not essential)

Experience

  • 0–2 years' experience in an accounting firm (preferred)
  • Practical exposure to SARS submissions is highly advantageous

Skills & Competencies

  • Working knowledge of SARS eFiling
  • Basic understanding of VAT, PAYE, and Income Tax
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, Pastel)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good time management and ability to meet deadlines
  • Professional communication skills
