Overview
The Data Modeller is responsible for analysing business requirements and translating them into logical and physical data models. The role works closely with business stakeholders, data architects, data engineers and developers to make sure data is structured, consistent and usable across the organisation.
Core Responsibilities
- Engage with business and technical stakeholders to understand data needs, reporting requirements, and integration points.
- Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models
- Map source-to-target data flows (lineage).
- Work with data engineers to ensure models are implementable in the target platforms
- Support impact analysis when changes are requested to existing data structures.
- Produce clear documentation for handover to development and analytics teams.
Required Experience / Skills
- Strong experience in data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical) in a corporate environment.
- Solid understanding of relational modelling (3NF/OLTP) and dimensional modelling.
- Ability to read and interpret source system schemas and map them to target models.
- Comfortable working with SQL and able to validate assumptions against actual data.
- Experience with metadata, master data, reference data, and data quality concepts.
- Proven ability to work with both business and technical teams and translate between them.
- Strong documentation discipline.
- Experience with Erwin will be highly beneficial
