Our major Financial Services client is transforming its project and programme management practices to better support a dynamic, complex business environment. We are seeking a Project Methods, Standards, and Governance Specialist to drive the development, documentation, and adoption of best practice governance frameworks, templates, and processes for Agile, traditional (waterfall), and hybrid project management methodologies for our client.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence and shape governance maturity across multiple knowledge areas, including integration, scope, schedule, cost, quality, resource, communications, risk, procurement, and stakeholder management.
Role Overview
The Project Methods, Standards, and Governance Specialist will be responsible for developing right-size governance frameworks tailored to project and programme complexity. You will establish standards and templates, conduct first-level audits, support project tool optimisation, and advise project and programme managers to ensure compliance and promote continuous improvement.
You will also drive the optimisation and adoption of tools such as MS Projects Online and JIRA, ensuring data integrity and actionable insights through project data analysis.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience Required
- Relevant Degree or Higher Diploma in a related field.
- Project and Programme Management Certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
- Minimum of 6 years' experience within a project environment in a similar role.
- Proven experience in the IT and financial services industries.
- Portfolio Management Certification (PfMP, SAFe) highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in project management practices and tools.
- Knowledge of resource management, MS Projects Online, JIRA, SAFe, and Waterfall methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement right-size project and programme governance frameworks, policies, and procedures for Agile and traditional approaches.
- Create and maintain standards, templates, and journey maps aligned to project and programme complexity.
- Conduct first-level audits to assess compliance with governance standards.
- Provide guidance and advice to project managers and programme teams on compliance matters.
- Stay current with governance best practices and regulatory guidelines.
- Assess project needs for tools and optimize the use of MS Projects Online and JIRA.
- Provide training to project teams on effective tool usage.
- Guide and support project and programme managers in capturing project information accurately.
- Ensure data integrity of project and programme information.
- Generate reports and conduct analysis on project data to drive decision-making.
- Share best practices and lessons learned with project and programme managers.
- Collaborate with Finance and other stakeholders to align governance with financial controls.
- Monitor and report on governance metrics, KPIs, and system usage.
- Recommend continuous improvements to governance processes and tool usage.
Key Deliverables
- A defined, documented framework for Agile, traditional Waterfall, and SDLC methodologies.
- Established methods, standards, and governance templates supporting project maturity.
- Training materials and workshops to support tools adoption and compliance.
- Reports and analyses providing insights into project performance and governance health.
