Purpose of the position:

The purpose of the position is to create visually appealing design work that convey information to the organization's stakeholders for the purposes of marketing, growing and strengthening the brand of Innovate Durban

Outcomes of the position – what does the Digital Designer need to accomplish?

The Digital Designer will need to achieve the following:

1.    Successfully translate strategic direction into high quality design with an established brand identity.

2.    Actively visualize and develop innovative and engaging graphic designs that meet the organization's goals.

3.    Successful analysis and creation of solutions that streamline and improve design capabilities.

4.    Successfully creating visuals for social media platforms.

5.    Successful development of websites that are visually appealing and user friendly

Key Competencies

Experience and skills:

·    A tertiary qualification in Digital Design/Web Development or similar

·      Minimum of 2 years' experience in a design environment or related field.

·      Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Adobe)

·      Experience in social media design creation

·      Keen eye for visual design, image composition, branding, typography and layout.

·      At least 2 years experience in web design and development

·      Knowledge and expertise in developing and maintaining HTML and popular Content Management Systems (CMS) like WordPress and Joomla based websites

·      Basic back-end knowledge and some familiarity with server-side language eg, Python, Java and C++

·      Understanding of responsive design principles and frameworks

·      Creative thinker, efficient problem solver and the ability to accept constructive feedback

·      Ability to self-direct, multi-task and prioritize work assignments

·      High level of organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

·      Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.

·      Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

·      Experience in project management, software use and maximizing technology to meet deadlines and deliverables.

·      Experience in developing effective presentations
