Malander is seeking an immediately available, meticulous, and detail-oriented Financial Controller based in Cape Town with experience across the full finance function, including debtors, creditors, cashbook, reconciliations, and financial management. The ideal candidate will have a strong audit background as well as post audit experience in a corporate environment, completed articles, and experience in financial reporting, system and process review, and implementation. This role is well-suited to an individual who thrives in a structured and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining and updating cashbook records daily for multiple bank accounts.
  • Support bank reconciliations and ensure the accurate recording of transactions.
  • Process and allocate payments, receipts, and journal entries in the accounting system.
  • Manage debtors and creditors, including invoicing, reconciliations, and payment processing.
  • Monitor accounts receivable collections and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Verify the accuracy of cash flow information and assist in resolving discrepancies.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts to support financial planning.
  • Reconcile petty cash and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end financial close processes, including journals, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve finance-related queries.
  • Review, implement, and improve finance systems and processes to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Support financial reporting requirements and preparation of management accounts.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Completed articles and a strong audit background is non-negotiable.
  • Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Must be based in Cape Town.
  • CA(SA) 2-3 years post articles experience in corporate environments.
  • AGA(SA) with management experience will be considered an advantage.
  • Proven experience in cashbook management, reconciliations, and full finance function oversight.
  • Knowledge and experience in financial reporting and financial management at a professional level.
  • Experience in system and process review, improvement, and implementation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
