SUMMARY:
We're looking for a
reliable and customer-focused Retail Male Assistant / Cashier
to join our busy convenience store in Brooklyn, Pretoria. This hands-on, dual-role position combines
front-line cashiering
with
stock control responsibilities
, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and enjoys variety in their day-to-day tasks.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities

Cashiering Duties

  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Process sales efficiently using the POS system
  • Handle cash, card payments, and issue receipts accurately
  • Balance the till at the end of each shift and report any discrepancies
  • Address customer queries, returns, and basic complaints
  • Keep checkout areas clean and well-organized


Stock Control Duties

  • Receive, check, and unpack deliveries
  • Update inventory records accurately
  • Organize and store stock to prevent damage or spoilage
  • Monitor fast-moving items and notify management of low stock levels
  • Conduct routine stock counts and reconcile with system data
  • Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) procedures to reduce waste

Requirements

  • Previous experience in retail, hospitality, or stock control is a plus
  • Basic math skills and computer literacy required
  • Experience with POS systems and inventory software is advantageous (training provided)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Ability to multitask in a busy retail environment
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
