Automation Anywhere Lead
About the client
We're supporting a global financial services and corporate administration group on a multi-year transformation programme, backed by private equity. The focus is simple: deliver real, measurable efficiency gains across multiple jurisdictions (UK, Channel Islands, Europe and beyond) through smart automation and better ways of working.
You'll be embedded in a small but growing AI & Automation team, working directly with the Head of AI & Automation and transformation leadership.
The role
We're looking for a Senior Automation Anywhere Developer who can own end-to-end delivery of automations: from understanding the problem and shaping the solution, through to build, test, deployment and optimisation.
This isn't a "just build what you're told" role. The environment is still maturing – processes, data and project management – so we need someone who is happy to roll up their sleeves, challenge thinking and help the business make better choices about what to automate, not just how.
Key responsibilities
- Work with business stakeholders, BAs and the AI & Automation lead to understand problems, scope opportunities and shape automation solutions.
- Design, build, test and deploy high-quality automations using Automation Anywhere (current core platform).
- Review existing automations and identify opportunities to simplify, stabilise or retire where appropriate.
- Contribute to solution design – thinking beyond the immediate task to end-to-end process and customer impact.
- Produce clear, pragmatic documentation (designs, technical specs, support guides) without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Collaborate with a small team of junior developers and a technical lead in the UK, supporting code reviews and problem solving.
- Work closely with the data team to ensure robust telemetry, monitoring and performance reporting for bots.
- Support continuous improvement of development standards, ways of working and best practice within the automation team.
About you
We're looking for someone who is technically strong and commercially pragmatic:
Must-haves
- Solid, hands-on experience as an Automation Anywhere developer (ideally 3–5+ years), including building, deploying and supporting production-grade automations.
- Strong understanding of RPA design principles, exception handling, re-usability and maintainability.
- Comfortable engaging with business stakeholders – running or supporting workshops, asking "why", and challenging requirements where it makes sense.
- Ability to work in environments where data, processes and governance are still evolving – you're happy to deal with ambiguity and help bring structure.
- Good working knowledge of at least some of the following: Python, SQL, JavaScript (or similar scripting languages).
- Clear, confident communication in English – written and verbal.
- Based in South Africa, able to work core UK business hours.
Nice-to-haves
- Exposure to Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI).
- Experience in financial services, fiduciary, trust, funds or corporate services environments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: R3 000,00 - R5 000,00 per day
Experience:
- Automation Anywhere : 4 years (Required)
- Financial Services: 3 years (Preferred)
- Microsoft Power Platform: 1 year (Preferred)
Work Location: Remote
