Responsibilities:

• Drive business development and contribute to achieving financial targets for the firm.
• Ensure rigorous quality control of all deliverables and strict adherence to risk policies and procedures, meeting all statutory deadlines.
• Apply advanced theoretical tax knowledge to practical business solutions, demonstrating a sound understanding of tax laws.
• Produce consistently accurate work to the highest technical standards.
• Utilize effective research tools to gather comprehensive information from diverse sources.
• Assist in the research and preparation of compelling proposals.
• Prepare and review complex income tax computations, returns, and supporting schedules.
• Prepare and review provisional tax calculations.
• Prepare and review objections and appeals.
• Provide expert assistance to clients on tax issues, navigate SARS audits, and respond to queries.
• Adapt seamlessly to evolving work environments and changing client demands.
• Effectively liaise with SARS on behalf of clients.
• Cultivate and maintain strong, lasting client relationships.
• Manage budgets, debtors, and monthly invoices efficiently.
• Coach and mentor junior staff, fostering their professional development while ensuring accurate and high-quality client deliverables.

Requirements:

Must-Haves:

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Tax.
• Professional designation with SAIT.
• Minimum of 8 to 10 years of dedicated experience in Individual, Trust, and Estates tax.
• Technically strong with the provisions of the Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act affecting personal tax, trust tax, and estate duty, including capital gains tax.
• Experienced and competent with SARS eFiling, SARS contact centres, and SARS systems and procedures.
• Experienced and competent with the management of client portfolios and time management.
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while being task and client deliverables driven.
• Strong focus on risk processes and procedures.
• Assertive and pro-active, capable of dealing with statutory deadline pressures.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Preferably a post-graduate qualification in Tax or B. Com Hons.
• Collaborative and able to adapt to working as part of a larger team.
• Proven planning and organisational skills, leadership skills, and negotiating skills.
