Are you an ambitious Actuary looking to make your mark in a dynamic, growing environment? A leading professional services firm is looking for an Actuarial Specialist to join their expanding actuarial team. This is a rare opportunity to be part of an entrepreneurial setup — where you'll help shape the actuarial offering and support audit teams across a diverse client portfolio that includes several blue-chip names.

You'll get to apply your actuarial expertise across multiple industries — from insurance and medical schemes to retirement funds — providing audit support, IFRS 17 and IAS 19 insights, and actuarial modelling and valuation work.
 
This role is ideal for someone who's both technically sharp and commercially minded, who thrives in a collaborative, professional setting and enjoys building something new from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide actuarial audit support to clients across life, non-life, retirement, and medical scheme sectors
  • Review and validate technical provisions, IFRS 17 and IAS 19 liabilities, and assist with reporting and documentation
  • Support IFRS 17 transition projects and help clients interpret policy decisions and their financial impact
  • Perform modelling and valuation work covering liabilities, reinsurance, capital optimisation, and due diligence
  • Assist clients with actuarial function reviews, model validations, and process improvement initiatives
  • Conduct research and data analysis to deliver practical insights and recommendations
  • Build trusted relationships with clients and internal stakeholders through professional engagement
  • Contribute to business development efforts, proposals, and thought leadership content
  • Play an active role in establishing and growing the actuarial business unit

Job Experience and Skills Required:
  • Education: Qualified or nearly qualified Actuary (FASSA or equivalent)
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience in audit support or consulting — ideally across insurance, retirement funds, or medical schemes
    • Familiarity with IFRS 17, SAM, reserving, and actuarial audit frameworks (ISA 540, IAS 19, and IFRS 13)
    • Exposure to actuarial modelling and valuation work
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with excellent attention to detail
    • Outstanding communication skills — both written and verbal
    • Comfortable managing multiple complex tasks and working independently
    • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, collaborative approach
    • Proficiency in actuarial or analytical tools (Prophet, SQL, Python, SAS, Power BI, and MATLAB advantageous)
