Actuarial Analyst

Join a newly established actuarial team where you'll play a leading role in shaping and expanding a specialised actuarial audit offering. You will work closely with Audit and Advisory Teams, gaining exposure to a wide portfolio of blue-chip clients across South Africa.

You will apply your actuarial expertise to deliver high-quality audit support while participating in the development of broader actuarial services. This role is perfect for someone who wants to combine technical excellence with innovation and entrepreneurial drive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide actuarial audit support across clients in life insurance, general insurance, medical schemes, and retirement funds
  • Perform reviews of technical provisions, IAS 19 liabilities, and IFRS 17 liabilities, including drafting reports
  • Contribute to IFRS 17 engagements such as transition analysis, actuarial audits, and policy impact assessments
  • Conduct actuarial modelling and valuation work (liabilities, remediation, due diligence, reinsurance, capital optimisation, dashboards, etc.)
  • Assist in enhancing actuarial and risk management processes, including model reviews and operating structure improvements
  • Support research, data analysis, and development of actionable insights
  • Engage professionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to business development, proposal writing, and the operational setup of the actuarial unit
Job Experience and Skills Required:
Education:
  • Nearly qualified or qualified actuary / Senior Actuarial Analyst
Experience:
  • Experience in life, non-life, health, or pension valuations / audit / actuarial modelling
  • Exposure to IFRS 17, IAS 19, or actuarial audit support beneficial
  • Strong analytical and modelling experience
Skills:
  • Proficiency in actuarial modelling tools and data analysis (e.g., Excel, Prophet, SQL, R, Python advantageous)
  • Strong communication and report-writing ability
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic, high-performance environment
Non-Negotiables:
  • Passion for building and growing a new actuarial offering
  • Strong technical grounding and willingness to learn across multiple industries
