The Buyer is responsible for selecting, sourcing, and procuring merchandise that aligns with the company's brand, customer demand, and commercial strategy. This role plays a key part in driving sales, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and ensuring strong supplier relationships within the retail, fashion, and luxury environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and source products that match market trends, customer preferences, and brand positioning.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, designers, and manufacturers.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and commercial agreements to maximise profitability.
  • Analyse sales reports, market data, and customer insights to inform buying decisions.
  • Forecast demand and plan assortments to ensure optimal stock levels.
  • Collaborate with merchandising, planning, marketing, and store teams to support product launches and seasonal strategies.
  • Monitor competitor activities, pricing, and product ranges to maintain market competitiveness.
  • Oversee the end-to-end buying cycle including sample selection, purchase orders, delivery tracking, and product performance analysis.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in buying, procurement, or merchandise planning within retail, fashion, or luxury sectors.
  • Strong understanding of market trends, consumer behaviour, and product lifecycle management.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems, Excel, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple deadlines, and adapt to fast-paced retail environments.
