Wellington SPCA has been dedicated to enhancing the well-being of

animals in Wellington and surrounding areas through animal admission

and adoption, veterinary healthcare, education and partnerships for more

than 70 years. We are currently in the process of hiring for the position of

Head of Operations.

This is an opportunity for a competent and experienced leader of people,

who is prepared to take accountability and manage the small Wellington

SPCA team within the National SPCA operational guidelines. The position

reports to the Wellington SPCA Committee.

The incumbent must love animals, be passionate about relationships with

people and customer service, be able to deliver excellent customer

service, be experienced in sound financial administration and general

administration and must be able to fulfil all aspects of staff management.

Responsibilities include, amongst other:

 All aspects of staff management

 Supervising inspectorate, kennel staff, office administration and

financial administration

 Dealing and negotiating with the Drakenstein Municipality, external

service providers and the public

 Financial control, including budget and overseeing handling of card

transactions, handling of cash received and petty cash

 Overseeing general administration, including animal admission and

adoptions

 Liaison with the Wellington SPCA Committee regarding marketing,

income generation and events

 Preparation and delivery of monthly and quarterly reports to the

Committee

 Effective management of E-mail and other means of communication

Minimum requirements:

 A Bachelor Degree, National Diploma or higher qualification in

commerce.

 At least five years experience in leading a team with diverse

functions successfully

 At least five years experience in business administration and

management.

 A valid South African Code B driver's license

 A valid police clearance certificate

 Own transport arrangements to and from work

 Bilingual in English and Afrikaans

 Computer literacy and competent as well as experienced in Word,

Excel, Outlook

It will be an advantage if candidates have the following:

 A formal post Matric qualification in animal welfare or conservation

 Experience working in an animal welfare environment

 Work experience in a registered Non-profit, public benefit

organisation

 A valid code EB driver's licence

Preference will be given to applicants with the right experience and

qualifications who are South African citizens or legal permanent residents

in South Africa residing in the Drakenstein Municipal area.
