Senior Consultant – Investment Pipeline Development
1 week ago
Department: Investment
Employment Type: Contract / Temp
Location: Africa
Reporting To: Project Lead
Description Allied Talent Partners (ATP), a Three Cairns Group initiative, is a mission-driven, not-for-profit talent marketplace focused on solving the human capital bottlenecks slowing down sustainable development efforts in emerging economies, with an initial focus on Africa. ATP connects vetted, experienced, context-relevant professionals to high-impact opportunities in energy access and sustainable development – strengthening local capacity and fuelling economic vitality. We specialize in fixed-term, deliverable-driven engagements – from interim leadership and generalist projects to niche technical expertise – handling project scoping, talent vetting and matching, contracting, payroll, and compliance so that our clients can focus on impact.
High-Level Overview
A mission-driven investment advisory firm operating in frontier markets is launching a three-month initiative to map and validate investment opportunities in the southern DRC along a major regional trade corridor. The exercise will identify companies operating in mining-linked industries, transport and logistics infrastructure, agribusinesses positioned to supply corridor markets, and the broader ecosystem of service providers supporting these sectors. The objective is to build a credible pipeline of early-stage opportunities that could advance to deeper due diligence. The project team includes a project lead and an investment advisor based in Lubumbashi, supported by a local partner coordinating company interviews and stakeholder engagements. To expand analytical capacity, the client seeks a Senior Consultant to conduct early-stage commercial and financial due diligence – reviewing business plans, assessing financial health and funding needs, validating assumptions, synthesizing interview insights, and triangulating information with public sources. The consultant will develop structured, investment-grade assessments that inform which companies merit further analysis. Ideal candidates will bring experience in financial analysis, transaction advisory, or commercial due diligence, with the ability to independently assess business plans and derive high-level financial insights even where company information is limited. Strong synthesis skills, comfort engaging company management teams, and fluency in French are preferred. Given the distributed team structure, the consultant should be able to work remotely while collaborating effectively across time zones.
