To set, influence, implement and drive the credit acquisition and underwriting strategy of the portfolio together with the Credit Head and in alignment to the strategy of the business area. To support the customer in fulfilling their financial needs and support the credit team by setting a proper credit culture within the team.

Strategic Credit Risk Management & Portfolio Oversight

  • Identify interconnected problems, assess impact, and develop best-fit alternatives to drive best practice solutions (e.g., early warning triggers, Pay-no-Pay mechanisms, behavioral models).

  • Define and execute a credit portfolio growth strategy aligned with annual growth targets through competitor analysis and innovative credit initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain ongoing credit risk management principles.

  • Set Credit Policy and Risk Appetite, monitor adherence, optimize current frameworks, and ensure alignment with portfolio performance and governance processes.

  • Lead the data and analytics function to ensure data quality and support strategic decision-making.

Market Responsiveness & Innovation

  • Stay attuned to local market conditions by identifying new trends and designing risk identifiers and features for origination and back-book monitoring.

  • Implement localized analytics strategies to address business needs with minimal supervision.

  • Design and implement cutting-edge systems, solutions, and processes aligned with business strategy.

Fraud & Risk Detection

  • Develop and maintain early detection tools for fraud, credit risk, attrition, and behavioral profiling.

  • Report unauthorized events within the credit portfolio and escalate to relevant committees.

  • Ensure implementation and adherence to privacy requirements, legislation, and policy.

  • Drive resolution of privacy and protection audit findings, complaints, incidents, and assessments.

Customer-Centric Profitability & Campaigns

  • Identify opportunities to increase profitability of existing customers through innovative campaigns while maintaining acceptable risk boundaries.

  • Support product development through product analytics, customer value proposition insights, and client lifetime profit analysis.

Governance, Legal & Compliance

  • Provide custodianship of the bank's credit frameworks, policies, processes, and securities.

  • Take responsibility for legal issues arising within the Corporate Credit portfolio.

  • Refer and motivate limit proposals beyond individual lending mandates.

  • Contribute to corporate governance, compliance, integrity, and ethics policies to manage risk exposure.

Reporting & Portfolio Management

  • Oversee portfolio management, general reporting, and commentary.

  • Target portfolio tilts in line with risk appetite and strategic objectives.

  • Maintain close collaboration with pricing teams to align pricing with risk appetite.

Data-Driven Culture & Analytics

  • Model and promote a data-driven culture that values data as a strategic asset.

  • Identify and enable opportunities for business value extraction through data and analytics model implementation.

  • Facilitate actionable insights and recommendations for business through formalized conclusions and implications.

Project & System Integration

  • Understand system integration and ensure effective implementation of strategies onto platforms.

  • Apply project management principles to drive execution within own area of accountability.

Financial Management & Cost Control

  • Manage capital and provisioning, including bad debt charge oversight.

  • Drive efficient business strategies by understanding key drivers.

  • Control costs, manage budgets, authorize expenditures, and ensure financial regulation compliance.

  • Plan, implement, and report on cost effectiveness, escalating variances as needed.

Leadership & People Management

  • Manage teams and vendors to ensure high-quality, accurate data delivery through efficient project execution.

  • Encourage innovative thinking while aligning new ideas with broader business impact.

  • Demonstrate leadership through personal involvement and commitment to organizational values.

  • Create an environment that fosters employee growth and performance excellence.

We can be a match if you have:

  • In-depth knowledge/experience in Acquisition analytics including Credit Appetite formulation, Credit portfolio optimization techniques, Credit Strategy management, Credit origination scoring and portfolio reporting.

  • Deep domain knowledge of the credit value chain and technical understanding of the regulatory framework and best practice, as it relates to Credit Risk acquisition management and modelling.

  • Strong understanding of Data Analytics.

  • Understanding of both the technical points of Data Management & Analytics, as well as key business drivers.

  • The ability to be highly effective at providing strategic direction on the functional interpretation (and articulation) of knowledge through application of data insights and analytics to grow the Associate business

  • Strong stakeholder management skills including effective communication and management of stakeholder expectations with the ability to multi-function and support both Associate businesses.

  • Excellent leadership abilities around managing people by executing management responsibilities and creating an environment that encourages employee growth and performance excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualification: Have a relevant Degree in Mathematical Sciences, Statistics, Engineering, Econometrics or Actuarial Science

Preferred Qualification: Honours Degree

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 - 8 years' experience in a similar environment, of which 2 - 3 years ideally at management level

  • Deep domain knowledge and experience in Credit Acquisitions management, influencing and/or recommending business solutions to optimise processes and inform strategic decisions through statistical modelling and data analysis. Preferably recent Credit risk management experience in an Acquisitions environment. VAF experience is a bonus.
