Gig Engineer
is seeking a highly experienced
Mechanical Engineer
to join our dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, specification, and integration of mechanical equipment for major projects within the petrochemical and chemical industries. This position requires a strong background in a FEED, EPC, or EPCM environment, with a focus on ensuring designs meet client requirements and international standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed engineering for rotating and static equipment, including development of datasheets, specifications, and technical bid evaluations.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Integrate designs from third-party contractors to ensure full compliance with project specifications.
  • Participate in key project reviews, including HAZOP and other technical meetings.
  • Review and approve supplier documentation and provide technical support during fabrication, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant statutory regulations and safety standards.

Technical Competencies:

  • Thorough knowledge of standard engineering theories and principles.
  • In-depth understanding of international design codes and standards, with mandatory knowledge of:
  • API 610, 614, 617, 618, 619, 672, 674, 682, 685
  • Knowledge of the following will be a distinct advantage:
  • ASME
     codes
  • ASTM/DIN/EN
     material specifications and certification
  • Proficiency in package unit design standards and the ability to interpret client specifications.
  • Working knowledge of statutory regulations for pressure equipment (PER, SANS 347) is highly desired.

Education and Experience:

  • Education:
     BSc or B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience:
     A minimum of 7 years of applicable experience in a FEED, EPC, or EPCM project environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and engineering software used for technical specifications.
  • Formal training or courses on pumps, compressors, and seal systems are desirable.

Other Requirements:

  • May be required to travel to project sites as needed.
