Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership across the design, installation, maintenance, and optimisation of rotating equipment and mechanical systems, with a strong emphasis on API 610 standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical design activities for rotating and static equipment, ensuring compliance with API, ASME, ISO and related standards.
  • Prepare and review design calculations, technical specifications, datasheets, and mechanical drawings.
  • Oversee equipment selection to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, risk assessments, and documentation in line with SACPCMP project management principles.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal engineering teams to resolve technical queries and ensure project alignment.
  • Review vendor documents and support procurement through technical evaluations.
  • Participate in FATs, audits, site inspections, and commissioning activities, ensuring mechanical integrity and safety compliance.
  • Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance assessments during system start-up and operation.
  • Drive strong adherence to HSE requirements and promote a culture of safety across engineering and project teams.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and ensure all engineering work aligns with client specifications and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng or BTech).
  • SACPCMP Certification (Professional Construction Project Manager or equivalent) –

  • 8–12 years' experience in mechanical engineering with strong exposure to rotating equipment and pumps.
  • Extensive knowledge of API 610 and related API standards, with experience in oil & gas, petrochemical or power generation environments.
  • Strong understanding of piping systems, pressure vessels, and fluid mechanics.
  • Proficiency in 3D design and analysis tools (AutoCAD Plant 3D, ANSYS, SolidWorks, Caesar II or similar).
  • Strong project management and coordination skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capability.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project and vendor sites.
