Senior C&I Project Engineering


We are looking for an experienced Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to join us in driving significance together.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

The C&I Engineer will need to oversee the planning, implementation and tracking of a number of projects with specified deliverables. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of control and instrumentation systems for mining and processing operations. This role involves overseeing the installation, maintenance, and optimization of control systems to ensure efficient and safe plant operations. The engineer will work closely with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and plant operations teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.



Required Qualifications:

· Relevant degree/diploma in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field

Experience and Knowledge:

· years of experience in control and instrumentation engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior or lead role.

· Extensive experience in mining and processing plant environments.

· Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale C&I projects.

· Project Management

· Proficiency in control system design and programming (e.g., PLC, DCS, SCADA systems).

· Strong knowledge of instrumentation selection, installation, and maintenance.

· Familiarity with industry standards such as ISA, IEC, and IEEE.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

The C&I Engineer performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following: 

Project Management

· Lead and manage C&I projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and specifications.

· Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of control systems with overall plant operations.

· Prepare and present project reports, proposals, and status updates to stakeholders.

 Design and Development:

· Select appropriate instrumentation and control equipment based on project requirements.

· Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

· Develop and review control and instrumentation system designs, including P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), control philosophies, and system architectures.

Installation and Commissioning:

· Oversee the installation, calibration, and commissioning of control systems and instrumentation.

· Conduct site inspections and tests to verify system performance and compliance with design specifications.

· Troubleshoot and resolve issues during the commissioning phase. 

Maintenance and Optimization:

· Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for control systems and instrumentation.

· Analyse system performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.

· Provide technical support and training to plant operations and maintenance personnel. 

Safety and Compliance:

· Ensure all control and instrumentation activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. 

· Participate in safety audits and incident investigations related to control systems.

· Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures for C&I systems.
