Duties & Responsibilities

Role Requirements

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers, ensuring optimal performance and uptime
  • Develop and maintain software solutions on Linux platforms
  • Utilize GitHub Actions for continuous integration and deployment
  • Write and maintain scripts in Python for automation and process improvement
  • Manage authentication and access using PBIS and LDAP
  • Configure and manage automounter and netgroups for efficient network file system access
  • Participate in Scrum teams to deliver high-quality software solutions
  • Use Grafana for monitoring and improving application performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and operation
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members
  • Ensure adherence to best practices and industry standards
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and reliability
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation
  • Reviewing existing playbooks and advising and adapting these playbooks

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in software or operations engineering, particularly with Linux systems
  • Minimum of 3 years of IT software development experience

Essential Skills Requirements

  • Proficiency in Linux operating systems, preferably SLES
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Expertise in LDAP directory services such as 389DS etc
  • Experience NFS and CIFS protocols (e.g., automounter, netgroups for network file systems)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Advantageous Skills Requirements

  • Knowledge of Perl, with a decreasing emphasis in future projects
  • Understanding of advanced networking concepts
  • Experience with continuous integration and deployment practices
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and services
  • Understanding of IT security best practices
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies
  • Experience with GitHub, particularly GitHub Actions
  • Understanding of Scrum methodologies for agile project management
  • Familiarity with application performance monitoring, specifically Grafana
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools and configuration as code
  • AAP experience, including the writing of playbooks
  • Be able to troubleshoot issues with PBIS for authentication and access management
