Occupational Hygienist - Mining Projects Location: Aggeneys, Northern CapeContract Duration: 4 Months Company: Minning Operation site Division/Department: Projects I05 Reports to: Project Manager/LeadStart Date: Immediate Our company is seeking an experienced anddetail -oriented Occupational Hygienist to join our mining projects team. If youare passionate about ensuring a safe and healthy work environment, especiallywithin the mineral processing industry, this is the perfect opportunity foryouKeyResponsibilities:Health Hazard Assessments: Conduct thorough evaluations to identify potential health hazards (e.g., dust, noise, chemicals) associated with construction and commissioning activities.Inspections & Audits: Perform regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as internal standards.Program Development: Create and implement occupational health and safety programs tailored to the specific needs of each project.Compliance Monitoring: Ensure strict adherence to local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, as well as industry best practices.Exposure Monitoring: Use appropriate sampling and analytical techniques to monitor exposure levels to hazardous substances, including air and noise.Risk Assessment & Corrective Actions: Analyse environmental samples to assess risks and recommend effective corrective measures.Training & Awareness: Provide training to project staff on occupational health risks, safe work practices, and emergency response procedures. Develop educational materials and lead workshops to enhance compliance.Incident Investigation: Investigate health -related incidents and near -misses, determine root causes, and propose preventive measures.Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to integrate health and safety considerations into project planning and execution.Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans for health hazards and participate in emergency drills.Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of health and safety inspections, exposure monitoring, training, and incidents. Prepare detailed reports on health and safety performance and recommend improvements.Qualifications& Skills:Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CIH, ROH) are a plus.Experience: At least 8 years of experience in the mining industry, particularly in mineral processing.Knowledge: Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, as well as industry best practices.Languages: Fluency in English is essential.
