Job Summary

BF Ghana Limited is searching for an expert Senior Mechanic from an international background (e.g., European, American, or South African) with profound, 360° expertise in heavy agricultural machinery. This pivotal role requires not only master-level diagnostic and repair skills but also the leadership to manage a team and the commercial acumen to interface with global manufacturers for strategic parts procurement. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on problem-solver who thrives in the dynamic environment of a large-scale African plantation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Expertise & Repairs:

Perform advanced diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on our modern fleet, specializing in:

Land Preparation Machinery

(e.g., heavy-duty disc harrows, rippers, ploughs).

High-Horsepower Tractors

(e.g., John Deere, Case IH, New Holland models 200HP and above).

Combine Harvesters

(complex repairs on threshing, separating, and cleaning systems).

Conduct thorough failure analysis and implement robust, long-term repair solutions to maximize operational uptime.

Develop, implement, and enforce rigorous preventative maintenance schedules to the highest international standards.

1. Leadership & Team Development:

Lead, mentor, and train a team of local mechanics, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the workshop.

Schedule workflow, prioritize tasks based on operational criticality, and allocate resources efficiently.

Ensure all work is performed in strict accordance with company safety protocols and quality standards.

1. Procurement & Supply Chain Coordination:

Leverage existing relationships and build new ones with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and international parts suppliers.

Coordinate directly with OEM procurement departments to source genuine spare parts at competitive prices, optimizing costs and reducing lead times.

Manage the parts inventory system, proactively forecasting needs to ensure critical components are available.

1. Reporting & Documentation:

Maintain precise digital records of all maintenance, repairs, parts usage, and machine history using modern fleet management software.

Provide detailed reports on equipment status, workshop productivity, and budget performance to management.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Nationality/Background:

Citizen of a country with a highly advanced agricultural sector (e.g., USA, Germany, France, UK, South Africa, Netherlands, etc.).

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years

of hands-on experience as a heavy-duty mechanic, with at least

5 years

in a senior or lead role within

large-scale agriculture

(e.g., grain).

Technical Skills:

Proven 360° expertise in the repair and maintenance of the machinery listed above. Must be an expert in hydraulic, electrical, electronic (CANbus), powertrain, and engine systems.

Procurement Experience:

Demonstrable experience in liaising with international parts departments and supply chains to source components efficiently and cost-effectively.

Language:

Fluency in English is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

Formal certification from a recognized technical institution or direct OEM training (e.g., John Deere Ag Tech, Case IH Service Training).

Previous expatriate work experience, particularly in West Africa, is a significant advantage.

Experience working in large-scale crop production sector.
