About the role

As a End User Computing Architect, you will be responsible for designing, building, and running high-performing IT Infrastructure solutions that support Capitec's end-user computing environment. You'll lead architectural strategy, drive infrastructure design and implementation, and provide expert guidance across teams.

You'll work with cutting-edge technologies including Microsoft Azure, AWS, Intune, SCCM, and more—ensuring our infrastructure is scalable, secure, and aligned with business goals.

Responsibilities and Focus

Develops architectural strategies and maintain roadmaps in-line with the latest industry trends, including technology 
standardization and modernization.
Align architectural strategy with business objectives, deliver designs that meet business requirements, on time, and 
within budget.
Analyse the business and technical requirements to determine the system design, how to overcome potential 
challenges and the related cost for each project request.
Develop and maintain high-level IT architecture documentation for deployed IT infrastructure and oversee technical 
design documentation process for correctness and timeliness.
Lead architecture reviews and peer reviews to document and publish standards, policies, design sign-off, and 
guidelines.
Assist with the implementation and delivery of complex IT Infrastructure projects from planning, design, implementation 
and migration strategies that preserve the availability, performance, integrity, stability, and scalability of systems.
Work across business units, interface with other architects and analyst of varies teams, including the solutions 
architects of the solution delivery team, to provide system wide solutions.
Define and create Infrastructure governance, compliance and integration structures.
Demonstrate the capability and maturity to present strategy to an Executive level audience.
Act as a stand-in to direct line management when required.Implement Infrastructure Designs
Compile project plans, drive implementation and share ownership and accountability for the overall success of the 
project.
Create detailed planning and implementation documentation.
Prepare hand-over documentation and document support processes applicable to relevant stakeholders.
Liaise with stakeholders to plan the execution of deliverables according to implementation documentation.
Perform the implementation of more complex solutions.
Ensure that additional capacity is provisioned in time.
Support and training
Act as the final level of escalation for the resolution of critical issues.

Design Infrastructure Solutions

Analyse the business requirements.
Determine the technical requirements.
Design new infrastructure solutions that meet the business and technical requirements to align with, but not limited to:
Information security and governance frameworks
Regulatory compliance
High availability strategy
Scalability and capacity planning
Engage with Vendors / Suppliers / Business Partners for the design and implementation of infrastructure solutions.
Analyse the placement of infrastructure services and the financial impact.
Compile and cost solutions for budget approval.
Cost management and optimization.
Ensure license compliance.
Improve and optimize current infrastructure designs.
Forecast the growth for infrastructure capacity requirements using monitoring and management tools.
Document designs and specifications.

Implement Infrastructure Designs

Our ideal candidate

You are a forward-thinking IT professional with a strong background in end-user computing architecture. You're passionate about designing modern workplace solutions, thrive in solving complex problems, and are able to balance innovation with practicality.

You bring:

Proven experience in IT architecture, design, and solution road mapping.

A strong background in ICT infrastructure, including design and implementation at enterprise scale.

Technical expertise across Microsoft Windows & Azure, AWS, M365, Intune, identity management, and security.

Broad exposure to multiple technologies, integrations, and enterprise systems.

Experience from a consultancy or professional services environment (preferred).

Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, or team guidance experience.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into secure, scalable technical solutions across diverse IT landscapes.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior audiences.

Curiosity and drive to stay ahead of industry trends, continuously learning and optimising.

Qualifications in IT, Computer Science, or related fields; relevant certifications are a plus.

Knowledge of finance or banking systems is beneficial but not essential.

Qualifications (Minimum)

• Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
  
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology

Microsoft Windows OS architecture and application integration.

Active Directory, Azure AD, EntraID, and Group Policy management.

Identity and Access Management (MFA, AD Security, Group Management).

Security for end-user devices (EDR, encryption, remote wipe).

Microsoft 365 (Teams, O365, Intune, Conditional Access, Power Platform).

Cloud platforms: Microsoft Azure and AWS.

System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) – advanced usage, design, configuration, reporting.

Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, JavaScript).

Networking fundamentals (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, routing, switching).

End-user hardware (Dell, Lenovo, Apple) and print management solutions.

Virtual Desktop technologies (Azure VDI, AWS Workspaces).

Observability and monitoring tools (Grafana, Instana, Pager Duty).

Advantageous:

Software Asset Management.

Linux operating systems.

SQL knowledge.

Infrastructure automation (Ansible, Terraform).

API services and integrations (RESTful APIs).

Source control and DevOps tooling (GitHub).

Audio-visual and collaboration solutions (Teams Rooms, Cisco, Logitech, Polycom, Yealink).

Prometheus and related monitoring solutions.
