We are seeking a
Sustainability Project Manager
to lead key initiatives that drive environmental performance, operational efficiency, and long-term value across strategic projects in Southern Africa. This role is suited for a professional who combines
technical sustainability knowledge
with
strong coordination, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery capabilities
.

You will work across sectors — including agriculture, energy, manufacturing, and supply chain — developing and implementing sustainability frameworks that contribute to
economic growth, resilience, and positive social impact
.

Tasks

Project Strategy & Execution

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of sustainability-focused projects.

  • Develop work plans, budgets, timelines, risk logs, and implementation frameworks.

  • Ensure project delivery aligns with technical standards, compliance requirements, and strategic objectives.

Sustainability & ESG Integration

  • Conduct environmental and social assessments (ESIAs, ESG gap analyses, baseline studies).

  • Develop sustainability strategies, KPIs, and reporting dashboards.

  • Support partners and clients in meeting
    international ESG standards
    and donor requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate with local communities, private sector partners, government entities, funders, and NGOs.

  • Facilitate workshops, consultations, and multi-stakeholder dialogues.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations, technical reports, and progress updates.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Knowledge Management

  • Track and analyze project performance indicators.

  • Produce progress reports, case studies, and lessons learned briefs.

  • Contribute to business development efforts (concept notes, proposals, project design inputs).

Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, Agriculture, Development Studies, Engineering, or related field.

  • 3–7 years
    experience managing sustainability or development projects.

  • Strong project management and stakeholder coordination skills.

  • Experience working with donors, public institutions, or private sector partners.

Preferred

  • Experience with ESG frameworks (IFC Performance Standards, UN Global Compact, ISO 14001, etc.)

  • Prior work in agriculture, energy transition, climate adaptation, or resource efficiency.

  • Fluency in English (additional local/regional languages are an advantage).
