About the role

We are currently recruiting teachers of isiXhosa, Afrikaans, isiZulu, and French as foreign languages to join our dynamic, multicultural academic team.

Positions available

  • Teacher of isiXhosa as a Foreign Language
  • Teacher of Afrikaans as a Foreign Language
  • Teacher of isiZulu as a Foreign Language
  • Teacher of French as a Foreign Language (C1 level minimum; CEFR knowledge required

Profile & requiered skills (all roles)

  • Proven experience teaching the target language as a foreign language
  • Excellent command of the target language
  • Confident use of digital teaching tools (interactive whiteboards, MS Teams, social media, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively within a multicultural team
  • Flexibility with diverse audiences, course types, and formats
  • South African citizenship or valid work visa permitting employment in South Africa

Additional requirements for French teachers:

  • Strong understanding of CEFR levels
  • C1 minimum in French
  • DELF/DALF/TEF examiner accreditation is an advantage

Main responsibilities

  • Teach general and/or specialized courses (individual or group classes)
  • Use teaching methods and materials approved by management
  • Follow progressions that align with the institution's curriculum (and CEFR for French)
  • Develop engaging teaching materials (PowerPoint, Smart Notebook, LearningApps, Wordwall, etc.)
  • Prepare lessons, monitor progress, grade assignments, and create assessments
  • Manage administrative tasks related to class operations
  • Use our digital platform Arc en Ciel

Contract type

  • South African employment contract
  • Hourly compensation for daytime and evening classes (Monday–Saturday)
