Network Manager - UK BPO
As a Network Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of Sigma's global IT infrastructure, spanning data centres, networks, servers, and telephony systems. You will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of a resilient and scalable infrastructure that supports business continuity and growth. You will lead by example in driving best practice across system performance, network reliability, and cybersecurity. You will be reporting directly to the UK IT Infrastructure manager.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like
You will be working with the Head of IT Infrastructure and Senior IT Operations Manager to proactively develop the change, configuration management, and contingency planning disciplines by which the team can achieve the highest standards of operational quality. You will ensure the provision of a high-performance, secure, fault-tolerant network and systems infrastructure to Sigma's users and client base globally, including data centre, network, and server services, telephone and service monitoring. You will take the lead within the SA IT Team by maintaining the IT Network infrastructure to the best possible operational standards.
You will primarily focus on the SA Network infrastructure in Cape Town, South Africa as an extension of our Global network team in the UK. You will ensure the accurate maintenance of service desk and change logs while carrying out work so that colleagues in the team are aware of work that may impact their own and that there is an audit trail in the event of system failures. You will be the technical lead for the incident management process, as well as take part in the management of the disaster recovery facility and ensure 24x7 operational availability.
You will oversee the operation of network infrastructure systems to offer a reliable and performant service to the business while maintaining high levels of user productivity. You will also develop on-premises and cloud infrastructure for maximum scalability and reliability to support Sigma's growth., and you will undertake performance and capacity monitoring to ensure consistent high performance of network infrastructure and to ensure future demand is met. You will work closely with the IT department colleagues to maintain and develop security policies and configurations to guarantee the stability and integrity of the infrastructure, client compliance, and upholding the reputation of Sigma publicly.
You will be a strong advocate for IT Department colleagues in the wider business and set a customer-focused culture by example within the department.
What amazing People will bring to the role
You are an IT Leader with a clear talent for Networking and Sophos Firewall systems administration. You are results-driven within the IT infrastructure and network design space, with strong problem-solving capabilities. You have excellent commercial experience of HP Aruba, Sophos next Gen Firewall, Juniper(or Similar) SD-WAN support, as well as extensive experience of computer systems and business systems/related technologies. You are dedicated to ensuring a secure, high-performance, and resilient global network environment. You have good time management skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision, and you are extremely customer-focused.
You take pride in leading by example through delivering reliable IT infrastructure solutions, strengthening cybersecurity posture, and optimizing system performance to support business continuity and growth. You are proactive in monitoring disciplined change management, and collaboration across teams.
Requirements:
- You have a minimum 7-10 years within the IT Operations field (Essential)
- You have relevant Sophos Architecture certifications (Essential)
- You have at least 3-5 years' experience in IT infrastructure management or leadership (Advantageous)
- You have proven experience in configuration of Sophos XG firewalls, Sophos Central, HP Aruba switches (Essential)
- You have ITIL certification - Foundation or above (Essential)
- You have relevant vendor certifications and exposure in Cisco switches/routers, ASA firewalls, Palo Alto firewalls, Juniper Networks - SD-WAN, Microsoft and VMware servers (Advantageous)
- You have advanced Network routing skills (LAN switching/VLANs)
- You have a bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (NQF Level 7)
- You have strong technical background across networks, servers, virtualization, cloud (Azure/AWS), and security.
- You have experience managing hybrid on-prem and cloud environments (Advantageous)
