Senior Consultant, Actuarial

Division: FRM Actuarial

Reports To

Manager/Associate Director/Partner

Role Purpose

This role takes direction from the Manager, Associate Director or Director in execution of activities on engagements. Provides input and contributes to the planning and delivery of engagements, including contributing to decisions on work plans, timelines, project management, resource allocation and career development of Consultants/Analysts. Assumes responsibility on engagements below management and supervises less experienced team members on the engagements. Directs and reviews the work outputs and assists with training as necessary. Increases focus on building technical knowledge within and across service lines.

— Begins to take responsibility for overall engagement planning and job administration; maintains engagement project management tools as directed by management.

— Keeps management informed on progress of engagement and client relationship issues needing attention.

— Monitors the fulfilment of the engagement plan, raising any planning deviations to higher levels so the engagement manager is aware of any impact on realisation of the project or the need of overrun negotiations with the client.

— Understands and applies the KPMG engagement methodology and is able to contribute to the engagement project management, expanding experience of project management with report writing and developing presentation skills.

— Begins to take responsibility for managing the engagement budget effectively and efficiently, and assists managers in billings and collections.

— Identifies ways to analyse information quickly and efficiently, using innovative and creative solutions to solve problems,

— Allocates work ensuring effective utilisation of individuals, schedules activities and supervises quality, quantity and timelines of end results.

— May begin to act as a manager on small engagements.

— Completes performance management (goal setting, engagement reviews and interim/annual appraisal evaluations for self) within KPMG deadlines, providing timely and meaningful feedback to team members, if applicable.

Clients and business development

— Applies the KPMG Business Development Framework and, where appropriate, provides assistance to senior management with business development activities.

— Develops strong relationships with the client and maintains these relationships after engagements are completed.

— Assists engagement manager in preparing fee proposals.

Minimum Qualifications
— Relevant Actuarial University Degree

Experience
— Min 2 years plus of Actuarial experience preferably within a professional services firm or from industry
