Conways Aluminium is a leading supplier of Aluminium Extrusions and Hardware in Southern African.  They supply various market segments in the architectural fenestration and related industries.  They have a strategically placed geographical network of branches nationwide that predominantly sell fenestration systems to aluminium and glass fabricators that fabricate and install windows, doors, shop fronts, curtain walls, showers, etc. in new or renovation construction projects.  They furthermore stock and sell standard aluminium profiles like angles, flats, tubes, bars, and channels to the public.

Position Overview:

This position at Conways involves ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of goods across various regions while maintaining high standards of customer service and vehicle care. The role requires efficient route planning to optimize delivery times and fuel costs, proper handling and securing of loads, and adherence to all traffic regulations. The driver will also be responsible for collecting returned goods, completing relevant documentation, and obtaining Proof of Delivery and payments where necessary. Additionally, the role includes supporting warehouse operations, conducting daily vehicle inspections, and assisting with stock-takes. Flexibility to work overtime and on Saturdays, along with a commitment to safety, professionalism, and teamwork, are essential for success in this position.

• Ensure all deliveries in existing and new regions are completed punctually and accurately.
• Utilize the shortest or quickest routes for customer deliveries and ensure quick loading of goods to minimize vehicle turnaround time, thereby maximizing productivity and reducing fuel costs.
• Ensure the punctual and authorized collection of returned goods from customers, completing all relevant documentation correctly.
• Obtain valid Proof of Delivery and, where applicable, payment from customers.
• Maintain a friendly and professional demeanour, ensuring customer service is consistently rated as excellent.
• Prevent excessive vehicle wear and tear by adhering to traffic rules and promptly reporting any incidents.
• Keep all relevant documentation and trip analysis records neat and up to date daily.
• Ensure that the vehicle load is safely packed and securely strapped to prevent product damage or loss.
• Assist in picking, loading, and checking stock for delivery accurately and take accountability of all goods loaded on your vehicle.
• Ensure the vehicle is roadworthy, maintained, and serviced as required, kept clean, inspected daily, and that trip sheets are completed accurately.
• Assist with warehouse activities and housekeeping as needed.
• Maintain vehicle security and adhere to company standards for housekeeping and safety.
• Report any fraudulent, theft, collusive, suspicious, unproductive, malicious or instigative activities or attempts by any party.
• Participate in compulsory stock takes to ensure inventory accuracy as required.
• Be available to work overtime and Saturdays on a flexible basis as needed.
• Actively participate as a member of the Conways team and perform additional functions requested by management to enhance branch productivity and support self-development.

• Recognition for prior learning (experience) will also be considered.
• Knowledge of Wispeco's architectural Aluminium Systems and Hardware.
• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Driver License – EB (Code 8) with valid PrDP. C1 will be advantageous.
