Our Client is seeking a
Senior Data Analyst
to design, model and document curated data products within our Medallion Architecture (Silver & Gold layers). This role focuses on
data modelling (3NF + Dimensional/Kimball), source-to-target mappings, data discovery, lineage, and high-quality dataset design
. You'll work closely with Data Engineers, Product Owners, SMEs and Governance to deliver trusted, reusable data products. You will shape how analysis is executed and support the Head of Data Analytics.

This is a 12 month hybrid position based in either Cape Town or Johannesburg.

What you will do

  • Design & document Silver/Gold zone data models (3NF, dimensional, SCD).
  • Translate business requirements into STT mappings & transformation logic.
  • Perform data discovery, profiling & lineage analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure models are implemented correctly.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, SMEs, and Business Analysts to develop & refine data requirements, personas, standards & usage patterns
  • Document metadata, lineage, glossary terms & data quality thresholds.
  • Establish & support validation, QA, testing & data migration planning.
  • Mentor analysts and contribute to the Analyst Community of Practice.
  • Ensure compliance with Governance, Compliance and Security Standards.
  • Defining & maintain standards & review Data Analysis artefacts against these standards.
  • Planning migration from legacy to target state structures, including validating the Gold Layer data sources.
  • Guide analysts though standards, peer reviews, and model design support and drive uptake of good practice with hands-on coaching.
  • Participate in QA & testing

Key Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong data modelling skills:
    3NF, Dimensional/Kimball, SCD, ERDs
    .
  • Deep understanding of
    Medallion Architecture
    (Silver/Gold layers).
  • SQL expertise and hands-on data manipulation experience.
  • Metadata, lineage, data governance & quality principles.
  • Experience with data warehousing, semantic layers & analytical environments.
  • Agile delivery exposure (Jira, Confluence).
  • Strong written skills for Documentation Discipline to produce reusable mappings, metadata & process notes.
  • Strong Analytical thinker that has strong collaboration skills building consensus between business and technical stakeholders
  • Healthcare/Insurance knowledge beneficial.

Experience and Qualifications

  • 7+ years
    as a Data Analyst (senior level).
  • Experience setting up or contributing to a
    Community of Practice
    .
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science / Information Systems / Data Engineering (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience using agile tools and repositories such as Jira and Confluence
  • Training/certification in one or more of the following:

Data Modelling (Kimball/Inmon/3NF)

SQL
and advanced data querying

Metadata / Data Quality / Governance tools

Metadata Management and Data Cataloguing

Data Quality or Governance tools

DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)

Power BI Data Analyst Associate

Advantageous: Azure Data Fundamentals, DBT, CDMP, Power BI DA, Alation/Collibra/Purview, Snowflake basics.
