Unicam South Africa is looking for a dynamic, hands-on Accountant who can independently manage the full internal finance function. This role requires someone who can take ownership from data capturing all the way through to VAT, payroll, management accounts, and preparation of year-end files for AFS. You will be the backbone of the finance department, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and smooth month-to-month operations.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Supplier Management

  • Full accounts payable function: processing invoices, maintaining supplier accounts, preparing and loading payments.
  • Ensure payments are made within agreed terms.
  • Daily allocation of payments to vendor accounts.
  • Monthly supplier reconciliations.
  • Handle supplier disputes and resolve all account queries promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of all supplier/client communication.

General Accounting & Financial Control

  • Perform data capturing, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Prepare balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations monthly.
  • Costing of machines and all manufactured items.
  • Assist in cash flow planning and forecasting.
  • Manage credit applications and perform risk assessments on new and existing accounts.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.
  • Prepare month-end management accounts packs.
  • Prepare year-end audit files and support the AFS process.

Payroll & HR Admin

  • Manage monthly payroll (Sage), including salary calculations, statutory deductions, and submissions.
  • Process monthly salary payments.
  • Monitor and reconcile staff clocking systems, timesheets, and leave records.

Banking & Compliance

  • Manage online banking platforms, perform daily allocations, and maintain accurate bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with SARS, statutory deadlines, and internal controls.

Operational Support

  • Support management with financial insights, costing, and decision-making.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes and overall business efficiency.
  • Work closely with production, procurement and sales teams to ensure financial accuracy across the business.

Minimum Requirements

  • Finance diploma or relevant accounting qualification.
  • 3–5 years' experience in a manufacturing or production-based environment.
  • Strong Sage Accounting and Sage Payroll experience (essential).
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
  • Advanced computer literacy (Excel, Outlook, and general Office suite).
  • Experience with online banking platforms.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High accuracy, attention to detail, and analytical problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, multitask, and operate independently.
