ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Masters level degree in Molecular Biology / Biotechnology / Plant Biotechnology / related (OR alternatively minimum of BSc PLUS 5 years working experience in molecular diagnostics).  Good working knowledge & hands-on experience in DNA & RNA extractions & qPCR testing. Experience in lab operations, managing consumables & data reporting. Independent experience troubleshooting qPCR & working with a LIMS system is highly preferred.

SA Citizen, with a driver's license & own vehicle. Candidates residing in the region preferred.

DETAILS

Our client, an agriculturally focused diagnostic testing laboratory services the agricultural community (farmers, agricultural co-operations, nurseries etc.) by providing molecular testing for plant pathogens, in the effort to improve and preserve the health of their customers high-value crops. The labs are set up with high-end automated liquid handling systems, and the company strives to provide the best service to their customers by focusing on high quality results, compliance and innovation.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Performing DNA/RNA extractions & qPCR testing following established SOPs,
  • Process samples, ensuring proper sample traceability & accuracy throughout the molecular assay process for ensured reproducibility & reliability of results,
  • Results reporting, generating, reviewing & sharing technical reports,
  • Contribute to smooth lab operations, by managing labs consumable inventory,
  • Work towards complying with labs quality management systems & equipment,
  • Assist in preparing & dispatch sample collection kits, providing technical support to colleagues & customers when required,
  • Collaborating with colleagues in the effort to support the functioning of the lab,
  • Other ad hoc operational duties as and when required.

Neat, precise, organised, task focused, responsible, self-motivated, hard-working team player. Strong communication skills in English, highly computer literate.
