Purpose of the Role
The Product Support Technician is responsible for providing technical and product support services for the companies tracking platforms. This includes remote troubleshooting, configuration assistance, installation guidance, and usability support to ensure smooth system operation and an exceptional client experience.
This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented, and customer-focused individual who can manage multiple priorities and provide accurate technical solutions efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for vehicle tracking and fleet management software.
- Determine, review critically, and prioritise resolution of client-reported issues.
- Resolve cases and assist Lead Software Support Analysts with escalated or complex queries.
- Guide clients in using self-help and troubleshooting resources effectively.
- Follow established client support policies and procedures to ensure consistent service delivery.
- Provide direct technical assistance to clients via phone, email, and in-person sessions.
- Support clients by answering queries, locating information, and advising on technical requirements.
- Record customer change requests, software updates, and user interactions accurately in the internal system.
- Document issues, solutions, and procedures to improve internal troubleshooting guides.
- Assist in software installation, configuration, and update support.
- Conduct end-user training sessions and presentations where required.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new technical staff members on company software and systems.
Skills and Experience
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in an IT or technical support environment.
- Auto-electrical or vehicle tracking system experience will be advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
Qualifications:
- Matric (Grade 12) essential.
- IT or technical qualification (A+, N+, or equivalent) advantageous.
Technical Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise effectively.
- Proficient in data handling, analysis, and reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Self-starter with strong initiative and accountability.
Interpersonal Abilities:
- Comfortable working collaboratively with both clients and internal technical teams.
- Team-oriented and professional in approach.
- Strong customer service focus and commitment to service excellence.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00
(Occasional after-hours or standby support may be required.)
Remuneration
Market-related salary, based on experience and qualifications.
